Cadences – GCSE Music Revision Poster (A4 & A3)

£2.49

Musical punctuation, shown in C major: the four cadences written out on treble and bass staves, with the chord numbers explained.

On the poster

• How chords are numbered from the scale (I to vii°), with the notes of chords I, IV, V and vi in C major

• Perfect (V–I, like a full stop), imperfect (any chord to V, like a comma), plagal (IV–I, the “Amen”) and interrupted (V–vi, a surprise)

• A note on the tierce de Picardie: a minor-key piece that ends on a major tonic chord

Inside

• A4 PDF (210 × 297 mm)

• A3 PDF (297 × 420 mm)

Poster 3 of 8 in the GCSE Music revision poster set. Each poster is available on its own, or you can get all eight in the Pack of 8.

The poster carries the line "Supports GCSE Music: AQA · Edexcel · OCR · Eduqas"; it notes that AQA also lists the tierce de Picardie and that some boards write VI for chord vi. This is an independent revision aid. It is not produced or endorsed by any exam board.

Format: Instant digital download (one ZIP containing the A4 and A3 PDFs). No physical item is posted and the frame is not included. Print at home, at a local print shop or with an online print service.

Licence: For personal use, or for use with your own pupils in a single teacher's studio. Please don't resell or share the files.
