The Best Songs for Your Wedding Aisle (and How to Choose Yours)
Choosing the music you walk down the aisle to is one of the most personal parts of your wedding. It’s that moment where everything becomes very real, and the right music should help you feel calm, present, and completely yourself.
I’m often asked what the “best” wedding aisle songs are. The honest answer is always the same - it depends on you. But if you’re not quite sure where to start, I thought I’d share some ideas and a bit of guidance from my side of the piano.
Start with What You Already Love
The best aisle song is usually one you already have a connection to. It might be something you’ve listened to together for years, a film soundtrack you both love, or even a song that reminds you of a specific moment in your relationship.
One of the nicest things about live wedding piano is that almost anything can be adapted. Even if your song doesn’t originally feature piano, it can be arranged in a way that feels natural and elegant for your wedding ceremony.
The Modern Classical Sound
A lot of couples are naturally drawn towards artists like Ludovico Einaudi, and it’s easy to see why. His music has a calm, flowing quality that works beautifully for walking down the aisle.
Pieces like Nuvole Bianche or I Giorni create a sense of space and emotion without feeling overwhelming. They suit almost any venue, whether you’re getting married in London, Berkshire, Hampshire, or somewhere further afield like Bristol or Bath.
Bridgerton-Style Covers
More recently, I’ve had a lot of requests for what people describe as “Bridgerton-style” wedding music. This is where a modern song is reworked into a classical piano arrangement.
It’s a lovely way to keep things personal while still creating that timeless feel. Songs by artists like Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, or even something unexpected can work beautifully when arranged for piano. It often becomes a really nice talking point for your guests as well.
Film & Soundtrack Moments
Film music can be incredibly powerful for a wedding ceremony. There’s something about it that already feels emotional and familiar.
I’ve played aisle versions of Me and Sebastian’s Theme from La La Land, music from Love Actually, and even Titanic. These pieces are written to support big moments, which makes them perfect for the aisle.
A Few Simple Tips
If you’re still deciding, here are a few things I always suggest:
Think about your pace - your pianist can adjust the speed slightly, but it helps to choose something that feels natural to walk to
Don’t overthink it - if a song feels right, it usually is
Consider the ending - your pianist will guide this, but it’s nice when the music gently settles as you reach the front
It Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect
It’s easy to put pressure on this decision, but it doesn’t need to be perfect. The most important thing is that it feels like you.
Whether it’s a well-known classical piece, a Ludovico Einaudi track, or a completely personal song arranged into a soft piano version, the right choice is the one that allows you to take that walk feeling comfortable and present in the moment.
